Eyelids
Eyelids (Blepharoplasty)is the surgery of the upper or lower eyelids, it can be both a functional and cosmetic surgical procedure. It removes or repositions excess tissue and fat as well as reinforces the surrounding muscles and tendons to remove the effects of “bags” under the eyes and reduce wrinkles.
Dr. Shurgaya has performed approximately 6000 such surgeries that are often done together with the facelift. Typically she combines blepharoplasty with a browlift because droopy eyebrows will usually contribute to droopy eyelids. This surgery if done separate from a facelift is done under local anaesthetic. The unique procedure done in these surgeries allows to partially remove “crows feet” and slightly blocks the ability to frown (the BOTOX® effect). This prevents reoccurrence of the wrinkles. Dr. Shurgaya is using a unique technique for these operations that allow for much more favourable results.
How long does the surgery take?
The surgery takes approximately an hour.
When do the stitches come out?
The stitches are removed 4 days after surgery.
How long does recovery take?
After the first day of surgery the swelling and bruising will be most noticeable. Due to gravity it may also spread down to your cheeks but this is normal and will subside in about a week. Once fully healed the incision areas will be unnoticeable.
